If you look at my resume and background, you will see that I have a lot of experience in research. It’s difficult to place my work in any single “field” or label my methods under a single science because I take an interdisciplinary approach to things. In my MA thesis (2017), I looked at quantitative data and collected my own qualitative data. There were elements of sociology, ethnography, politics, and a hint of economics.
In my writing for my blog, I tend to draw on my previous research in education, what I read in the Chronicle of Higher Education (and several other sources), and my past and current experiences. I wish I were better at collecting my research in one place at the moment, it would certainly be useful to draw back on, but I am still working on developing an effective, massive spreadsheet (suggestions welcome!). You won’t find me citing my sources in my blog as often I did in my college papers, but trust that I’m not just making stuff up.
If you ever see something that strikes you as odd or incorrect, and have your own data you would like to bring to my attention, please do! It could alter my ideas about an issue. I don’t mind being wrong and would rather be better informed, so thank you in advance!
